AMD X870 Motherboard Launch Set for September 30th Debut

The forthcoming debut of the AMD X870 motherboards is slated for September 30th, according to initial listings. Board partners have showcased the latest X870 motherboards at various events like Computex, Gamescom, and IFA. Despite the previews, an official launch date or availability has yet to be confirmed. However, there are indications that this may change soon, as some stores are beginning to offer the new boards. Two of these listings even specify September 30th as the launch date for the X870(E) boards.

While certain versions have been announced for a few weeks now, other motherboard manufacturers are gradually unveiling their offerings. Notably, the first wave of 800-series motherboards doesn’t include any B850 models, suggesting a potential delay in their release. Currently, only the X870 and X870E variants are on the market, and they come with a significant price tag.

The new X870 motherboards come with a higher price point, starting at £200/€314 for a relatively basic model. It’s important to note that these prices are not official and are subject to change at any time. Here’s a compiled list of the pricing for all Asus and Gigabyte X870(E) motherboards (via @momomo_us) discovered thus far:

  • Asus ROG Crosshair X870E Hero: £472.69 / €704.52

  • Gigabyte X870 Aorus Elite WF7 ICE: £217.72 / €327.85 (19% VAT included)

While it’s unclear if the EUR prices for Asus motherboards include VAT, assuming they do makes sense given the £ to € conversion ratio. Another essential detail is the release date specified on Amazon DE entries, indicating that the Gigabyte Aorus boards will be available on September 30th.

For users eyeing the Ryzen 9000 series, it’s crucial to know that existing X670 motherboards, often priced lower than those mentioned above, are fully compatible with these CPUs. A simple BIOS update is all that’s needed, which can be easily carried out even without a previous-generation CPU if the motherboard supports BIOS updates via USB.
