Apple presents the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus
Crafted for Apple Wisdom with the fresh A18 chip, both models showcase Camera Control, significant enhancements to the sophisticated camera system, the Action button for swift access to useful functions, and a substantial increase in battery life.
CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus today, designed for Apple Wisdom. This intuitive personal intelligence system comprehends personal context to provide relevant and helpful intelligence while safeguarding user privacy. The iPhone 16 lineup introduces Camera Control, offering innovative ways to capture moments and swiftly access visual intelligence to identify objects or locations at an accelerated pace. The robust camera system boasts a 48MP Fusion camera with a 2x Telephoto feature, granting users two cameras in one. Additionally, a new Ultra Wide camera facilitates macro photography. Next-generation Photographic Styles enable users to customize their images, while spatial photo and video capture allows users to re-experience life’s unforgettable moments with remarkable depth on Apple Vision Pro. The new A18 chip offers a significant leap in performance and efficiency, enabling the smooth operation of demanding games and enhancing battery life.
iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will be offered in five vibrant colors: black, white, pink, teal, and ultramarine. Pre-orders kick off on Friday, September 13, with availability starting on Friday, September 20.

Apple Wisdom on the iPhone 16 lineup harnesses the capabilities of Apple silicon and Apple-crafted generative models to grasp and generate language and images, act across apps, and draw insights from personal context to simplify and hasten daily tasks. Apple Wisdom maintains the privacy and security of user data with Private Cloud Compute. This revolutionary approach allows flexibility and scalability of computational prowess between on-device processing and larger, server-based models running on dedicated Apple silicon servers — a significant stride in privacy in artificial intelligence. Apple Wisdom will be provided as a free software update, with the initial set of features rolling out next month in U.S. English for most regions worldwide.
Apple Wisdom introduces novel methods for users to enrich their writing. With comprehensive Writing Tools integrated into iOS 18, users can modify, proofread, and summarize text nearly everywhere they write, including Mail, Notes, Pages, and third-party apps. In the Notes and Phone apps, users can also record, transcribe, and summarize audio. When recording commences during a call in the Phone app, participants are automatically notified, and following the call’s cessation, Apple Wisdom generates a summary to recollect key points.
