Valve has unsealed Deadlock to additional participants in August, growing the invite system and experiencing a surge in simultaneous player numbers. Sadly, this surge in the game’s popularity has also drawn in hackers, an issue that Valve is swiftly addressing.
Cheaters have infiltrated the Deadlock pre-alpha phase, and their ranks have been expanding unchecked for weeks due to the incomplete state of Deadlock’s anti-cheat system. Nonetheless, the developers are actively engaged in its enhancement.
During this period, players must manually flag suspected cheaters via the game’s official Discord channel for further investigation by a moderator.
This is far from an ideal scenario for a game that has rapidly amassed a player base exceeding 100,000. Yet, it’s crucial to remember that Deadlock is still in its infancy and not yet primed for public release, a fact Valve has been transparent about from the start.
