Electronic Arts has officially launched Respawn Entertainment’s latest addition to the Star Wars Jedi series, titled Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms. The gaming giant has also announced during EA’s Investor Relations event that Respawn is currently in the works for the ultimate and concluding installment of this captivating trilogy. Laura Miele, the head of EA Entertainment, made a statement to shareholders about the future of the series:

Our collection of Star Wars games has set a new benchmark in terms of quality and sales, generating over $5 billion in total revenue. Among these successes are the Star Wars Jedi titles, which have attracted a massive audience of over 40 million fans, following Cal Kestis on his journey to greatness as a formidable Jedi. Respawn is dedicated to delivering an exceptional final chapter to this incredible saga.

In contrast to the first two games, Jedi Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor, the next chapter will see a new director leading the project, as Stig Asmussen departed from Respawn a year ago. Asmussen, renowned for his work as the director of God of War III, has since launched a new top-tier studio called Giant Skull, focusing on an Unreal Engine 5-powered action/adventure game set to debut in March 2024.

While the original Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was a pleasant surprise upon release, the subsequent installment, Jedi: Survivor, manages to uphold the same level of enjoyment. Despite playing it safe in terms of innovation, the game shines in its own right within fresh environments. Each title serves as a strong standalone experience, with Survivor enhancing key aspects of the gameplay while advancing Cal Kestis’ narrative towards the world of Tanalorr.

Although the game encountered several performance issues upon launch, Respawn diligently worked to address these concerns. The most recent patch, rolled out just a few days ago, tackled the majority of the technical shortcomings, significantly improving the player experience.
