Recently, Electronic Arts unveiled that skate will debut in beta testing in the upcoming year. The fourth primary entry in the adventurous sports series is currently being crafted at Vancouver-based studio Full Circle and has already undergone testing by a large number of PC gamers over the past couple of years. Testing on consoles is scheduled to commence this Autumn.

In a recent update from the studio, they mentioned implementing several alterations based on feedback received from the testers:

A substantial amount of effort has been dedicated to revamping Flick-It, the fundamental trick control mechanism in skate. We aim to ensure that each trick is not only enjoyable and gratifying but also preserves the familiarity from previous Skate titles. Furthermore, we have enhanced precision and control to facilitate the process of learning tricks.

The team is diligently working to provide you with the means to enjoy the game as you prefer, whether alone or with friends, anywhere in San Vansterdam. Virtually every action you take in the game will garner you rewards, enabling you to customize your character, equipment, and even unlock new items to place and skate with in San Van.

Individual expression is at the core of skateboarding, and that’s why we are thrilled to introduce an extensive array of character customization possibilities in skate. Various body types, hairstyles, attire, your skateboard configuration (including decals!) — you’ll have the ability to fine-tune and personalize to your heart’s desire.

One of the most exhilarating aspects of skate. is that we are constructing a game that can adapt, expand, and evolve alongside you over the years. Everything revealed thus far — the city, its narrative, equipment, music, game modes, and more — will progress as we transition between seasons.

The game will adopt a free-to-play business model and will feature cross-play functionality encompassing all platforms (PC, Mac OS, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and mobile devices). It will operate as an ‘always-on’ entity, meaning it will be a continuously connected live-service game.
