While Focal is renowned for its premium speakers crafted in France, the brand has gradually broadened its range of top-notch headphones over the last decade. Today, Focal revealed two new over-ear wired models, expanding its headphone offering to a total of nine.

Set for release in June, the fresh additions include the open-back Hadenys (pronounced ah den ees, shown on the left in the photo) and the closed-back Azurys (ah zur ees). These models are built around the same driver found in Focal’s wireless Bathys model, a recipient of the prestigious Sound & Vision Top Pick award in 2023. The 1.6-inch driver boasts a patented design with an inverted, M-shaped profile and an aluminum/magnesium cone, chosen for its ability to deliver deep bass, smooth treble, and clear vocals. The signature “M” denotes a fold around the cone’s edge.

Pricing details for the Hadenys are set at $699, while the Azurys are priced at $549.

Both headphones feature a headband comprised of leather on the top with breathable fabric, and a yoke connecting the headband to the earcups made of lightweight magnesium. The earcups sport a unique honeycomb grille design, with the Hadenys featuring an open-back style and the Azurys opting for a closed-back design. The Hadenys come with memory foam earpads, while the Azurys’ earpads are constructed from an insulated material designed to mold to the head’s shape, both wrapped in breathable fabric.

Focal highlights that the open-back Hadenys are perfect for home usage, whereas the closed-back Azurys cater to both home and on-the-go use. In terms of specifications, a standout distinction is the rated frequency response, going down to 25 Hz for the Hadenys and 15 Hz for the Azurys. Weight-wise, the Hadenys weigh slightly less at 10.4 ounces compared to the 10.8 ounces of the Azurys.

Both models come complete with a matching carrying case and cable. The Hadenys package includes a 6-foot cable and a quarter-inch adapter, while the Azurys come with a 4-foot minijack cable featuring an in-line remote control and microphone. For additional details, visit focal.com.
