Melinda French Gates, the former wife of Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, announced on Monday that she would be stepping down from her role as co-chair of the foundation next month.
In a statement, French Gates highlighted the importance of protecting and advancing women’s rights globally, emphasizing that it is a critical moment to do so.
Following their divorce agreement, Melinda French Gates will have an additional $12.5 billion to dedicate to her philanthropic efforts supporting women and families.
Bill Gates expressed his support for Melinda’s decision, stating that while he is sad to see her leave the foundation, he is confident she will continue to make a significant impact in her future endeavors.
