After facing criticism, Ubisoft will introduce offline modes to The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest.

Earlier in the year, Ubisoft faced criticism for its handling of the original expansive racing title, The Crew, by transitioning it offline and eventually removing it from digital libraries altogether. To prevent a repeat of this misstep with its subsequent games, The Crew 2 and the more recent addition, The Crew Motorfest, Ubisoft has revealed plans to incorporate offline modes.

Both The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest are slated to receive an offline gameplay option to ensure ongoing accessibility to both games. Moreover, the development team has pledged to deliver additional content for these titles in the future.

Stéphane Beley, the senior creative director behind The Crew series, addressed this development in a statement:

“We understand the concerns raised regarding access to The Crew games. Today, we want to emphasize our dedication to the future of The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest. We are currently exploring various solutions and can confirm the implementation of an offline mode to ensure continued access to both titles.”

There is currently no specified timeline for the introduction of this offline feature, but it is hoped that an update will be provided before the year’s end. The predicament surrounding The Crew should ideally serve as a valuable lesson for forthcoming Ubisoft releases – incorporating an offline mode is essential, as consumers generally prefer not to have their purchased products revoked, particularly when there is little justification for an online requirement.
