One of the more disappointing Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 rumors we’d heard in the past concerned the new phone’s chipset. Specifically, while some versions of the upcoming foldable were rumored to use a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, others were tipped to be stuck with an Exynos 2400 chipset. The Exynos is a slightly less powerful option, and Samsung has previously used a similar chipset-splitting tactic with the Samsung Galaxy S24 line. However, it was surprising news as Samsung’s foldables generally do not have a chipset split, making this development quite disappointing.

Now, a recent update suggests that every Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 might actually use a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. According to information shared by reputable leaker @kro_roe, there were initial claims of a chipset split, but it now seems probable that only the Snapdragon chipset will be utilized. Considering Samsung’s history of predominantly using Snapdragon chipsets in Z Flip models, this ultimately makes sense and is a positive turn of events for potential buyers.

Regarding the change in decision, a prior post from @kro_roe hinted at internal disagreements within Samsung over the choice of chipset. While there were talks of including both chipsets initially, the recent consensus appears to lean towards the exclusive use of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. However, it’s essential to approach this news with caution, especially as the reliability of the sources may still be unproven. Another leaker, @negativeonehero, previously suggested the inclusion of an Exynos chipset in some models, but most current sources point to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 across all variants.

It is reassuring to hear about the potential use of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset in all versions of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6, as an Exynos chipset could have posed limitations for what is anticipated to be a standout smartphone. Apart from the chipset, other leaks have hinted at notable upgrades for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6, including a larger cover screen compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip 5, enhanced RAM capacity of up to 12GB, and an improved 50MP camera system.

Although concrete details about the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 are still scarce, it is expected that more information will be unveiled at the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event, reportedly scheduled for July 10. With the potential inclusion of the high-performing Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and other rumored enhancements, Samsung enthusiasts and tech enthusiasts are eager to discover more about this upcoming foldable device.
