Earlier this week, a hacking collective alleged to have breached AMD, pilfering employee and client data, along with other confidential files, source code and more. The authenticity of these assertions has yet to be substantiated, but AMD has affirmed it is conducting an inquiry.

The collective known as ‘IntelBroker’, which has previously aimed at institutions like Barclays and the LA International Airport, has stated to have infiltrated AMD’s networks and absconded with a plethora of sensitive information regarding upcoming products, code, personnel and client specifics, internal correspondences, ROMs, firmware and more – essentially, all the undisclosed facts you prefer to keep under wraps. The collective is now attempting to vend this data on the internet.

In a declaration dispatched to Bloomberg, AMD validated that it is examining the alleged violation, stating: “We are cognizant of a cybercriminal organization claiming to possess pilfered AMD data. We are collaborating closely with law enforcement authorities and a third-party hosting accomplice to scrutinize the assertion and the significance of the data.”

A snippet of the purloined data has been distributed on BreachForums in an attempt to garner interest from potential buyers, so it appears that this breach might be authentic, although we have observed deceitful ransom endeavors previously, hence we must wait and ascertain the course of the investigation.
