Groundbreaking GPD Duo OLED Laptop Unveiled with Powerful AMD Ryzen 9 HX 370 APU

The Chinese startup GPD made waves at Computex with the introduction of the Duo OLED laptop featuring dual 13.3-inch AMOLED displays. Originally intended to support the AMD Ryzen 7 8840U, GPD has now opted for the more robust Ryzen 9 HX 370 APU. Alongside this update, GPD revealed some benchmark outcomes for this upcoming processor.

The Ryzen 9 HX 370 boasts 12 cores (4 Zen 5 + 8 Zen 5c) and Radeon 890M graphics, an integrated GPU with 16 RDNA 3.5 CUs. While precise performance details from AMD are pending, GPD confidently claims that the Ryzen 9 HX 370 will match the single-core Cinebench 2024 scores of the desktop Ryzen 9 7950X and even outshine the Ryzen 9 5950X in multicore tests by a margin of 2%.

In terms of graphics performance, GPD asserts that the Radeon 890M outperforms the Radeon 780M by 36%. Impressively, the Radeon 890M (54W TDP) achieves a TimeSpy score of 4221, representing a 31% improvement over the 72W TDP Radeon 780M and a 51% leap over the same TDP Radeon 780M. Additionally, GPD claims the 890M will surpass RTX 2050 laptop graphics by 12% and be on par with the RTX 3050.

While the graphics boost is noteworthy, GPD indicates that part of this enhancement is due to the utilization of advanced memory standards, with Strix Point supporting LPDDR5-7500 memory. The AMD Ryzen AI APUs are anticipated to hit the market in mid-July.
