ASRock Z890 Taichi revealed – Overclocking.com EN

Share it

A leaked release date (although unofficial for now) has surfaced for the Arrow Lake-S processors. Motherboards utilizing the Z890 platform are set to debut simultaneously. However, the highlight of today is a new revelation concerning memory compatibility for this platform, particularly when paired with an Asrock Z890 Taichi motherboard.

Reports indicate that the Z890 boards will feature the latest Intel Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) 3.0x to ensure that memory modules can achieve the advertised clock speeds with minimal issues. ASRock appears keen on incorporating the Hyper BCLK engine into its Taichi motherboard, allowing for overclocking of non-K processors. However, caution is advised as ASRock will need to secure approval from INTEL for this functionality. Intel has been imposing restrictions on Non-K overclocking for some time now, and recent events are unlikely to prompt any relaxation on the matter.

DDR5 Clocking at Up to 9200 MT/s in Overclocking Mode

Recent findings suggest that memory could be pushed to 9200 MT/s in overclocking mode on a single channel. The key question now revolves around whether standard chips or those utilizing DDR5 Unbuffered Dual Inline Memory Module (CUDIMM) technology will be in use. This innovative technology dynamically adjusts clock frequencies and voltages based on workload and system conditions. Despite this information attracting limited attention in recent days, the timing is intriguing: V-Color has introduced its High Speed Overclocked CUDIMM modules in 32GB (2x 16GB) and 48GB (2x 24GB) configurations, starting at 6400MT/s and reaching speeds exceeding 9200MT/s+. Clarity is needed in the distinction between Mhz and MT/s, a point that manufacturers must address soon.

Comparing to the current ASRock Z790 Taichi, which supports up to 7200 MT/s+ in overclocking and 4800 MT/s at default on the 1DPC 1R configuration, the Z890 boasts an 800 MT/s increase in native support and a 2000 MT/s boost in maximum frequency support.
