Dead Rising, the beloved 2006 zombie shooter, is receiving a modernized upgrade with a deluxe remaster set to launch this September. Capcom revealed the announcement today, pledging a loyal yet enhanced iteration of the game that initiated the series.

The enhanced Dead Rising Premium Revision will showcase upgraded visuals, featuring 4K resolution at 60FPS, real-time lighting and shadow enhancements, as well as revamped character models and mall layouts. Gameplay adjustments will also be present, including more user-friendly controls, improved NPC interactions, an automatic save function, and a polished interface. Capcom expressed its desire to preserve the game’s essence while elevating the overall user experience.

Through side-by-side comparison visuals, the enhancements are evident. The game has been reconstructed using Capcom’s latest RE Engine, utilized in the Resident Evil Remakes and other prominent Capcom releases over the last 5+ years. While the graphics exhibit significant enhancements with intricate lighting and character details, some fans might have reservations regarding alterations to the protagonist, Frank West, who appears notably older than his original depiction.

The Dead Rising Premium Revision will be accessible in two digital variants for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam on 19th September. The Standard Edition will be priced at £39.99, while the Digital Deluxe Edition will retail for £49.99, offering 17 outfits for Frank and 17 additional mall soundtracks. Pre-ordering the game will grant players access to the Dead Rising Original Pack, containing three extra costumes and mall tracks. A physical console edition is slated for release in November.
