Cyberattacks are on the rise against business accounts in the meta industry.

A recent report from cybersecurity researchers Cofense highlights the increasing number of cyberattacks on Meta business accounts. These targeted attacks aim to exploit the platform’s popularity for malvertising campaigns and phishing scams. Meta business accounts, such as those on Facebook, are specifically tailored for businesses, brands, and public figures to manage their online presence and run ad campaigns.

Cybercriminals are focusing on business accounts due to their higher chances of bypassing security measures, such as automated audits and multi-factor authentication (MFA). With successful advertising campaigns and linked credit cards, these accounts offer a lucrative opportunity for threat actors to conduct malvertising campaigns at the expense of the account owners.
