Enhanced compatibility with MIPS and Alpha processors in Gentoo Linux – Gentoo Linux

Share it

Gentoo Linux has made strides in enhancing its support for MIPS and Alpha processors. In recent times, the backing for these architectures within Gentoo had been dwindling, primarily due to a shortage of contributors sustaining these systems. However, this is no longer the case! The latest news brings forth a resurgence of interest from volunteers, propelling both MIPS and Alpha back into the spotlight of Gentoo Linux development. A well-maintained dependency tree is now being regularly scrutinized and enforced through the continuous integration system.

Users can now access current stage builds and their related binary packages for both MIPS and Alpha processors. In the case of MIPS, builds are available for all three ABI variants – o32, n32, and n64 – supporting both big and little endian configurations. On the other hand, for Alpha processors, there is also the provision of a bootable installation CD, expanding the usability and accessibility of Gentoo Linux for these platforms.
