Lee Davis, a talented animator, has reunited with Naughty Dog after holding positions at The Initiative under Microsoft and Deviation Games supported by PlayStation.

This experienced Naughty Dog member announced his comeback to the studio yesterday through a LinkedIn post. “I’m thrilled to announce that I’m embarking on a new role as Senior Animator at Naughty Dog,” he stated. Davis initially joined Naughty Dog in 2010 to contribute to The Last of Us, The Last of Us Part II, Uncharted 4, and the spin-off The Lost Legacy. However, he departed from the studio in 2020 to join The Initiative, the studio behind Perfect Dark. After spending 1.5 years at the studio owned by Xbox, Davis transitioned to Deviation Games, a PlayStation-supported studio, in March 2022. Notably, this studio was recently closed down and was developing a new live-service IP for PlayStation.

“With a heavy heart, we announce the closure of Deviation Games,” stated Kriste Stull, the former HR Chief and Operations Officer of the studio, in March of this year. “I want to extend my sincerest gratitude to our entire team. Thank you for your tireless efforts, commitment, and contributions to Deviation; I am truly appreciative of the opportunity to have collaborated with each and every one of you.”

Davis has now returned to his former workplace, this time as a Senior Animator. While no specific details about the project he will be involved in have been disclosed, it is highly likely that he will be working on the new project hinted at by Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann recently.

Druckmann shared, “I’m not only looking forward to this innovative game we are developing, but I am also eager to witness the world’s response to it. Following the success of The Last of Us and its adaptation into a show, even individuals beyond the gaming sphere are anticipating our next creation. I am keen to observe the reception of this project — I may have already disclosed more than I should have. That’s all I’ll mention for now.”
