GOG Introduces DRM-Free Titles on Amazon Luna Cloud Gaming Service

Renowned for its collection of DRM-free PC games, GOG has teamed up with Amazon’s Luna service to offer a selection of titles through cloud gaming. This partnership, announced in March, marks a significant expansion for GOG, known for offering major AAA titles without restrictive DRM measures. Among its offerings are DRM-free day-one releases from CD Projekt Red, such as The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077.

Amazon Luna now hosts GOG games for cloud play, with availability currently limited to select countries like the US, Canada, and several European nations. However, plans are in place to broaden Luna’s reach globally in the coming years. Powered by Amazon Web Services, Luna’s cloud infrastructure enables seamless gaming experiences across various devices, including smartphones, tablets, Smart TVs, and PCs. Additionally, Luna supports Bluetooth controllers, allowing players to connect their preferred controller or stick with traditional mouse and keyboard setups.

CD Projekt Group, the parent company of GOG and CD Projekt Red, has a history of supporting cloud gaming services. Prior to Google Stadia’s closure, CD Projekt Red backed the platform, while titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 have been accessible on GeForce Now for some time.

One of the standout features of this collaboration is the preservation of DRM-free principles. Gamers who own DRM-free titles on GOG can enjoy streaming them through Luna without compromising their ownership rights. Furthermore, purchasing a GOG title via Luna grants users the freedom to download and install the game locally on any PC without limitations, ensuring a seamless gaming experience.
