Among all the updates presented at Google I/O 2024, the focus was primarily on Gemini, marking a significant shift towards AI technology. Notably, the event did not delve into details regarding new smartphones or Android versions, showing a clear emphasis on enhancing AI capabilities through Gemini.

1. AI Overviews

One major enhancement slated for Google Search is the introduction of AI Overviews, which closely resembles the Search Generative Experience (SGE). This feature provides detailed AI-generated responses to user queries, offering not only information but also contextually relevant text, source links, and suggestions for further questions.

2. Video Search

Google Search is also rolling out a Video Search feature that allows users to upload videos along with text queries. For instance, users can upload a video of a malfunctioning device and ask the AI for a diagnosis, receiving detailed instructions on how to address the issue without typing a search query.

3. Smarter AI

In addition to Video Search, Google is enhancing the AI capabilities of its search engine. This includes improvements in understanding complex questions, simplifying responses, and offering personalized plans such as meal plans or vacation itineraries. These enhancements are set to be available soon in the Search Labs program for U.S. users.

All about Gemini

For those eager to experience these new features, individuals in the United States can sign up for the Search Labs program to access these experimental AI capabilities. As part of Google I/O 2024, various futuristic projects were highlighted, showcasing Google’s ongoing advancements in AI technology like Project Astra and Ask Photos.
