Share it

Today marked a significant occasion as the team behind GParted celebrated its twentieth anniversary, acknowledging two decades of delivering top-notch disk partitioning software.

GParted Partition Manager

Initially released as GNOME Partition Editor, GParted stands as a free and open-source partition editor renowned for its ability to manage disk partitions efficiently. By harnessing the capabilities of GNU Parted and other disk tools, GParted empowers users to create, resize, move, and duplicate partitions seamlessly, all without risking data loss.

It is a common inclusion in live CD/USB distributions, enabling users to handle partitions independent of a live operating system environment.

Since its humble beginnings with the 0.0.3 public release on August 26, 2004, GParted has grown to become an essential tool adopted by both novice and expert Linux system administrators globally. With over 34 million downloads from SourceForge alone, it has cemented its place as a go-to solution.

Over the years, the tool has expanded in capabilities and accessibility, offering support for more than 60 languages and establishing itself as a core component in various Linux distributions. It’s safe to say that hardly any Linux user has navigated their system without encountering GParted at some stage.

Celebrating two decades is an incredible achievement for any open-source project, and GParted is no exception. This longevity underscores its reliability and continued popularity among Linux users seeking straightforward and effective disk partition management. Congratulations on your 20th Anniversary, GParted—your contribution is invaluable!
