Immich 1.114 Reveals New Improvements and Glitch Corrections

Share it

Immich, a self-hosted solution for backing up photos and videos that is open-source, has introduced version 1.114. This update focuses on enhancing user experience and fixing bugs to refine recently added features.

One of the significant improvements in this version of Immich pertains to its tagging capabilities. Based on feedback received after the last release, the tagging system has been upgraded. Tags are now extracted from HierarchicalSubject as hierarchical tags, utilizing ‘|’ as a separator. This change aims to create a more systematic and easily navigable tagging structure.

By default, the system now reads from Keywords only if hierarchical tags are not available, making the tagging process more efficient. Furthermore, a previous bug that hindered the removal of the last tag from EXIF/XMP has been resolved.

For users of Adobe Lightroom, Immich now offers support for Lightroom tags. Additionally, the latest version enables the importing of face metadata in Digikam format during metadata extraction, paving the way for future advancements in facial recognition capabilities.

It is worth mentioning some current limitations: assets with existing face metadata will bypass the face detection stage, and these faces are not yet factored into facial recognition procedures. However, forthcoming releases are expected to integrate more features seamlessly.

Immich 1.114 has also enhanced the parsing of timezone offsets, ensuring that assets display the correct time and date regardless of their origin, even in locations with a “+00:00” offset.

From a visual standpoint, the upload panel has received a facelift, enhancing user interaction while preserving its familiar functionality. A notable change is the handling of duplicates—they are no longer automatically removed from the upload queue, giving users the ability to manage them manually.

Regarding a previous issue with Immich version 1.113, if the database connection was lost, the system necessitated a restart to reestablish the connection. This inconvenience has been addressed in version 1.114. Now, Immich makes continual attempts to reconnect to the database every five seconds indefinitely, ensuring uninterrupted workflow regardless of network interruptions.

The detailed list of changes can be found in the changelog, providing comprehensive information on all the innovations and enhancements introduced in Immich 1.114.
