It is said that Microsoft will be adding Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 to Game Pass in the upcoming month.

Today, news emerged about Microsoft’s potential restructuring of Game Pass business operations. This restructuring could involve an increase in subscription fees and the removal of day-one game releases for the standard tier. The key driving factor behind these changes appears to be the addition of Call of Duty to the Game Pass library, a move aimed at maximizing revenue for Microsoft.

In the wake of Microsoft’s significant acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the Xbox brand is faced with a substantial financial gap of $70 billion that needs filling. To address this challenge, Microsoft is steadfast in its decision to introduce Call of Duty to Game Pass, albeit at an additional cost. The anticipated breakdown of the new subscription tiers is as follows:

  • Game Pass Ultimate (console + multiplayer, cloud, PC, and day-one games) – $19.99 per month (plus applicable state taxes)
  • Game Pass (console + multiplayer, excluding day-one games) – $14.99 per month
  • Game Pass PC (PC only, still inclusive of day-one games) – $11.99 per month
  • Game Pass Core (limited console library + multiplayer) – $9.99 per month or $74.99 per year

These modifications are anticipated to come into effect in September and are likely to be officially unveiled before the end of this month, possibly coinciding with Microsoft’s upcoming quarterly earnings call on July 23rd. In an attempt to retain existing subscribers, Microsoft is reportedly considering adding Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 to Game Pass this month. Insider Gaming suggests that this will mark the initiation of the first set of Activision titles for Game Pass, including games like the Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy.

For Game Pass members who missed out on Modern Warfare 3, this presents an opportunity to revisit the multiplayer mode or delve into the campaign, although it is worth noting that the campaign offers a distinctly different experience from traditional COD campaigns, set in a sprawling open-world map.
