Notorious Studios revealed its inaugural game, Legacy: Steel & Sorcery, at yesterday’s OTK Games Expo, two and a half years post the project’s initial announcement. The studio, established by former World of Warcraft team members, is venturing into a different realm from MMOs with their high-octane action RPG set in a fantastical domain. In the official FAQ on the game’s site, Notorious Studios elaborated:

Embodied within Legacy: Steel & Sorcery is the vision of being the quintessential world PvPvE escapade. Delve into adventures either solo or with a duo of companions in expansive open-world landscapes accommodating up to 24 players. The primary goal entails eliminating adversaries and monsters, seizing their spoils, and safely returning to civilization.

Legacy: Steel & Sorcery encompasses intense PvP, PvE showdowns, a variety of RPG classes, and contemporary third-person combat mechanisms. The gameplay is structured around sessions with lasting progress. Despite incorporating familiar MMO aspects like crafting, character personalization, class selection, and expansive maps, the game distinguishes itself from the MMO category.

Expected to debut towards the end of 2024 on Steam Early Access, Legacy: Steel & Sorcery is poised to linger for a minimum of one year on the platform. The Steam page elaborates further on the gameplay characteristics.

Each class boasts distinctive environmental interaction abilities. For instance, Warriors can launch boulders and breach barriers, while Priests wield the power of levitation.

Within the confines of the town, players must enhance their reputation with merchants to unlock premier crafting choices or even negotiate reduced prices with NPCs. Furthermore, players can enhance their abodes with superior furnishings, which will confer advantageous effects (potentially buffs) upon the characters. Nonetheless, occasional major updates are expected to reset progression, affording the community a ‘fresh start’.
