In 2021’s beginning, Lever Games unveiled No More Space in Hell 2, a follow-up to the well-received 2011 Source mod. Following the announcement, the game was expected to be released shortly thereafter, but it disappeared from the spotlight for an extended period.
However, the situation changed during Summer Game Fest 2024, where it was revealed that Torn Banner Studios, the developers behind Chivalry, had acquired Lever Games. They infused the team with some of their seasoned members to finalize the development of No More Space in Hell 2, now scheduled to debut on Steam and the Epic Games Store early access this Halloween.
Steve Piggott, Torn Banner Studios’ CEO and creative director, expressed in a statement:
No More Space in Hell 2 retains the somber, grounded aesthetic and intense action horror style of the original game while significantly broadening its scope. We are delighted to become the new custodians of a franchise we cherished as fans and eager to undertake the task of encapsulating the iconic horror of classic zombie cinema. We aim to astound players with our initial co-op game, leveraging Torn Banner’s expertise in multiplayer action to a new echelon.
The game is currently under development using Unreal Engine 5. It is situated on an expansive map (initially launching with a Power Plant) and notably incorporates permadeath, compelling players to meticulously ponder each move. Throughout each session, players must locate their companions scattered across the map, commencing with meager resources and needing to scavenge for new weapons and equipment to better their odds of survival. Afterwards, they must progress towards the central objective on the map and strive to extract from that point.
Looting supplies enhances the player character, provided they survive a mission. With each playthrough, you can enhance your survival chances by gaining access to equipment caches and starting gear. The developers also pledge a ‘dynamic gore system’ that will make dispatching zombies a gratifying experience.
