PlayStation 5 Pro Pre-Release Comparison Video Shows Few Aesthetic Upgrades Across Various Titles

Share it

An initial PlayStation 5 Pro comparative clip shared online today showcases the visual upgrades expected from the upcoming console on certain current titles. The video, crafted by Cycu1, is based on the material exhibited in yesterday’s technical demonstration and may not provide an accurate representation of the games’ performance on the final hardware. Despite this, the video clearly demonstrates that certain games will see greater benefits than others. For instance, Hogwarts Legacy is set to leverage the console’s capabilities for improved ray tracing and more stable performance, while Gran Turismo 7 will incorporate ray tracing features during races. On the other hand, some games show minimal enhancements in image quality.

PlayStation 5 Pro was officially unveiled yesterday after months of speculation and rumors. The primary enhancement of the new model, set to launch in two months, is a more potent GPU that renders graphics 45% faster due to 67% more computing units and 28% quicker memory. Additionally, the console will introduce the AI-infused PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution upscaler, which will heighten the visual quality of games while maintaining smooth frame rates. Improving the visual aspects of Performance Mode was a key objective of the new system, as most players preferred gameplay at 60 frames per second over higher resolutions and visual fidelity throughout the generational cycle, a sentiment confirmed by Mark Cerny during the console’s unveiling.

The PlayStation 5 Pro will hit the market on November 7th priced at $699.99, £699.99, €799.99. Despite the premium cost, analysts anticipate the system to perform as well as the PS4 Pro did in terms of sales.
