On the 14th of August 2024, the OBS Team rolled out a range of fresh functionalities in OBS aimed at nurturing cooperation among OBS users. Specialized tags for more efficient sorting, configuring personalized hyperlinks for your error tracking system, and markdown styling for descriptions of projects/packages. These features are crafted to offer you a deeper understanding of your tasks, helping you concentrate on the most crucial aspects.
These enhancements are part of the Foster Collaboration
and Labels
beta initiatives. Detailed information about the beta program can be found here.
Introduction to Tags
Encompassed within the Labels
beta project, OBS now empowers you to construct and tailor tags with distinct names and hues, customized to suit the specific demands of your endeavors. These tags can be assigned to both packages and incoming appeals, allowing you to classify items according to their significance, subject, or any other criterion you prefer.
Whether handling intricate projects or managing a high influx of requests, tags provide a visual system to organize your responsibilities. This function aids you in prioritizing the most imperative duties and guaranteeing no task is neglected.
Tailored URLs for Reporting Errors
This feature is an integral component of the Foster Collaboration
beta effort. The bug reporting procedure has been substantially enriched, offering increased flexibility for project and package maintainers. Previously, all bug reports were automatically directed to a universal link within OBS (Bugzilla), which restricted usage of personalized issue-tracking systems. With the latest update, maintainers can establish a custom URL for error reporting, aligned with their preferred tracking mechanism.
Elevate Your Descriptions with Fresh Markdown Assistance
A markdown assistance feature has been launched for project and package descriptions, enabling you to craft more dynamic and visually captivating content. This tool allows you to seamlessly format your descriptions to incorporate bold text, lists, links, and other elements that aid in accentuating key details.
Total Watchers Count
The Watch button has been upgraded to exhibit the overall count of watchers, delivering a transparent indication of how many users have included a project, package, or request in their watchlists. This fresh attribute furnishes valuable insights into the level of interest and engagement with specific items, enabling maintainers to assess the attention a project or package is garnering.
