RawTherapee, an influential cross-platform open-source photo editing tool crafted for processing unprocessed files and generating top-notch image results, has rolled out its newest version, 5.11, showcasing an array of highly awaited attributes.

Noteworthy Features of RawTherapee 5.11

The latest iteration of RawTherapee, version 5.11, doesn’t just enhance existing features but also introduces substantial improvements that significantly enhance user interaction.

One of the significant updates includes an expansion in supported raw file formats, encompassing 12-bit Panasonic raw files and Fujifilm lossy-compressed raw files, as well as compatibility for opening JPEG XL images.

Another notable enhancement is the integration of lens corrections sourced from file metadata for diverse camera brands, streamlining the correction process during the editing phase.

Users can now enjoy new maximum zoom configurations for intricate editing processes, coupled with the inclusion of genuine HiDPI that replaces the previous pseudo HiDPI for crisper image previews.

Furthermore, the file browser now permits users to browse through all images within subdirectories, boosting the organizational structure and accessibility of photo collections.

This version also sees a transition from “Local Adjustments” to “Selective Editing,” refining the feature to enable uniform application of edits across the entire image consistently.

The update also introduces a range of enhancements to the selective editing feature, including new ΔE preview buttons for sub-tools and customizable graduated filter feathering, offering users more control and precision in image manipulation.

RawTherapee version 5.11 has opted for LibRaw to read raw files, replacing the outdated dcraw system. This move ensures better support for modern camera models and raw formats, although users are encouraged to report any encountered bugs with files that LibRaw may not handle adequately.
