An emerging report from NVIDIA revolves around the card’s lower-tier GPUs. It seems that the company is potentially incorporating an Ada Lovelace chip into a previous-generation budget card, hinting at the development of an RTX 3050 A with an AD106 GPU!

RTX 3050 A: an outdated card housing a modern GPU!

Primarily, this card is powered by a modern GPU, specifically the AD106. This particular chip is already present in the RTX 4060 Ti, RTX 4070, and the 4070’s mobile variant.

Compared to the RTX 3050 utilizing a GA107 GPU, the AD106 offers higher transistor density and more contemporary features… along with a potentially larger configuration. However, this won’t result in an excessively powerful 3050. NVIDIA’s goal likely revolves around repurposing defective GPUs by integrating them into an entry-level card. The setup would be customized to deliver performance similar to a 3050, with a marginal improvement of no more than 5%.

Regarding features, it has been disclosed that the chip can deactivate certain aspects to leverage DLSS 3 – quite intriguing!

Nonetheless, the perks of TSMC’s 4N lithography will be noticeable in reduced power consumption, leading to lower heat generation. This would be advantageous for an entry-level laptop GPU.
