Sony Slashes Prices of PS VR2 in the United States and United Kingdom
Following the impending introduction of PC compatibility for PlayStation VR2 headsets next month, Sony has introduced a markdown in prices. Currently, the cost of the PS VR2 headset has hit its lowest point since its initial release, plummeting to $350 in the US and £350 in the UK.
Stocks of PS VR2 at this reduced price on Amazon have already been depleted, leaving only the pricier headset bundled with Horizon Call of the Mountain, selling for a staggering £589.99. Given the reception of that particular game, we suggest avoiding that bundle at its current price point. At Smyths, the headset is currently offered at £329.99.
With this reduction, the PS VR2 headset is now more affordable than the latest Meta Quest 3, often priced at £450 and above, depending on the variant. However, to fully utilize the PS VR2 headset, you’ll need either a PS5 or a PC equipped with the PS VR2 app and an additional £50 adapter, whereas the Meta Quest 3 is a stand-alone device.
In the United States, select retailers have also brought down the price of the headset to $350. Sony has made minimal efforts thus far to stimulate the adoption of its new VR headset, with no announcements regarding future first-party games.
