Starfield redeems the Xbox Series S by operating at 120 frames per second.

Achieving 120 frames per second on the Xbox Series S with Starfield is now a possibility, albeit at the expense of some visual fidelity that might not sit well with all players.

Recently demonstrated by Fuzion Xbox Testing in a fresh video showcase, the latest RPG title from Bethesda can reach the coveted 120 FPS threshold on the Xbox Series S with the aid of various modifications like Uncap FPS for Series S, Performance Tweaks, Performance Shadows, Remove Grass, Crowd Reducer, and No God Rays. Through a combination of tweaks, including lowering the resolution to 720p using the Performance Tweaks mod and adjusting multiple graphical settings, the console struggles to maintain a consistent framerate. While the gameplay experience may not be entirely seamless, the opportunity to immerse oneself in high framerate gaming on the least potent current-gen console is a tempting prospect.

Starfield, which debuted last year, has seen regular updates introducing fresh features and content, with the most recent being the addition of the Creation Club. The forthcoming major expansion, Shattered Space, scheduled for later this year, will invite players into a new narrative unfolding on a solitary planet roughly the size of Fallout 4’s Far Harbor expansion, offering approximately 15 hours of gameplay.

Currently accessible on PC, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, Starfield provides an array of engaging experiences waiting to be explored. For further insights into the game, feel free to peruse my in-depth review.
