Survivor News 9 Did Not Address Stuttering Problems

One widely acknowledged truth is that Star Wars: Jedi Survivor faced optimization difficulties on PC. Gamers encountered problems with frame rates and speech impediments persistently, a recurring issue also present in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Despite the game’s solid design and status as one of the premier Star Wars titles, PC players faced significant obstacles. Developers assured players that the latest update would tackle performance problems and excessive stuttering. Regrettably, the update fell short of expectations.

Although some issues were resolved, and the game’s overall frame rate improved, stuttering during movement persisted. Additionally, the update eliminated Denuvo, an unpopular anti-tamper software among the gaming community.

Overclock3D delved into whether Update 9 effectively remedied the PC version of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. While the game now runs notably smoother, it still demands substantial CPU performance, particularly when utilising ray-tracing effects. To enhance gameplay smoothness further, Overclock3D recommended disabling ray-tracing. Despite the game’s compatibility with DLSS technology, enabling DLSS properly and ensuring it functions as intended posed significant challenges.

In their analysis, they assessed performance metrics using an RTX 4070 Ti. Hence, it wasn’t a case of running the game on a subpar rig.

Overall, the game’s performance has substantially improved, yielding higher frame rates. An area that proved problematic for PC players was the Koboh village, which, before the update, suffered from severe stuttering. The blog post stated that it’s now smoother than before, although occasional stutters persist.

Their blog also includes graphs illustrating the game’s progress from Patch 3.5 to Patch 9. While ray-tracing activation has improved in Patch 9, it remains demanding and complex to manage, potentially leading to stuttering and erratic frame rates.

By and large, Patch 9 successfully rectified several exasperating issues players encountered in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Whether future patches will continue to address movement stuttering issues remains uncertain. However, the game is currently in a markedly improved state post-Patch 9 for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
