  • In July, we terminated 89 YouTube channels as part of our probe into synchronized influence operations relating to Ecuador. The campaign was distributing material in Spanish about Mexican and Ecuadorian politics.
  • We stopped 27 YouTube channels in July as part of our examination into orchestrated influence operations linked to Russia. The campaign was dispersing content in English, Polish, French, and Russian that favored Russia and criticized Ukraine and Western institutions.
  • Significantly, we took down 583 YouTube channels in July as part of our investigation into coordinated influence operations linked to Azerbaijan. The campaign was circulating content in Azerbaijani that backed Azerbaijan and criticized Armenia and opponents of the Azerbaijani regime.
  • Furthermore, we eliminated 5,554 YouTube channels and 15 Blogger blogs in July. We also blocked 4 domains from being visible on Google News surfaces and Discover as part of our continuous scrutiny into coordinated influence operations associated with the People’s Republic of China (PRC). The deceitful network posted content in Chinese and English concerning China and U.S. foreign affairs.
  • As part of our July efforts, we blocked 25 domains from being visible on Google News surfaces and Discover in connection to coordinated influence operations linked to Russia. The campaign associated with the entity known as Doppelganger was distributing content in English, German, and French about news and current events in the US, Western Europe, Ukraine, Russia, and the Middle East.
  • Additionally, we terminated 5 YouTube channels in July related to coordinated influence operations linked to Russia. The campaign was presenting content in French, Arabic, and Spanish that backed Russia and criticized the West.

This newsletter contains details about synchronized influence operation campaigns that were halted on our platforms in the third quarter of 2024. The last update was made on September 12, 2024.

We ended 18 YouTube channels as part of our investigation into coordinated influence operations linked to Russia in July. The campaign was sharing content in English that praised Russia and criticized the U.S.

Similarly, we eliminated 26 YouTube channels in July associated with coordinated influence operations linked to Russia. The campaign was distributing content in Russian that supported Russia and criticized Ukraine and the Western nations.

Additionally, we shut down 1 Blogger blog as part of our investigation into coordinated influence operations linked to Russia. The campaign, affiliated with the Internet Research Agency (IRA), was sharing content in Russian that praised Russia and criticized Ukraine.

Also, in July, we terminated 34 YouTube channels and 1 Ads account linked to coordinated influence operations tied to Russia. The campaign was disseminating content in Russian, Spanish, German, and English that favored Russia and criticized the West.

Moreover, we blocked 10 domains from being eligible to appear on Google News surfaces and Discover due to our investigation into coordinated influence operations associated with entities operating in the United States. Their campaign shared English content aiming to persuade voters to stand for elected positions as independent candidates. Meta provided leads that supported our investigation.

We also blocked 13 domains from being eligible to appear on Google News surfaces and Discover in July as part of our inquiry into coordinated influence operations related to Russia. The campaign was sharing content in English that favored Russia and criticized Ukraine and the Western countries.

Similarly, we blocked 7 domains from being eligible to appear on Google News surfaces and Discover as part of our investigation into coordinated influence operations linked to Russia in July. The campaign was distributing content in Russian that favored Russia and criticized Ukraine and the Western countries.

Furthermore, we ended 12 YouTube channels and 1 Ads account as part of our investigation into coordinated influence operations linked to Russia. The campaign was distributing content in Polish, German, Italian, English, Hungarian, Czech, and Dari that praised Russia and criticized the West.
