Tennessee Board of Regents providing Google Career Certificates

Share it

The Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR), overseeing the state’s 37 public community and technical colleges, is broadening the availability of Google Professional Credentials and Google AI Essentials across all its participating schools to enable more students like Stacey to pursue new opportunities. These certificates encompass training in cybersecurity, data analytics, and IT support to equip students with the necessary skills for today’s job market demands and to meet the needs for in-demand positions. Alongside Google Career Certificates, TBR students will gain access to Google AI Essentials, an online program teaching fundamental AI skills and practices responsibly, without any prerequisite experience.

Enhancing Prospects in Tennessee

This initiative extends the success seen at Chattanooga State Community College and Motlow State Community College. Chattanooga State facilitates skill enhancement through collaborations offering financial support and childcare services while delivering Google Professional Credentials. Motlow State enables students to earn academic credits for relevant degree programs or as electives based on prior learning.

Participants in the Google Professional Credentials program are linked with the Google Employer Consortium comprising over 150 enterprises committed to considering graduates for suitable roles. Over 250,000 individuals in the U.S. have completed the program, with 75% reporting positive career advancements (such as new positions, promotions, or salary increases) within six months of certification. The collaboration with TBR aims to expand this impactful program, empowering more individuals throughout the Volunteer State to achieve their career aspirations.
