An announcement by AMD regarding the Ryzen 9000 series during Computex has fueled discussions about the potential launch window for the X3D variants. With a span of seven months between the Ryzen 7000 and 7000X3D series, speculations suggested a probable release close to CES 2025. Nonetheless, a fresh report now hints at the possibility of the Ryzen 9000X3D series hitting the market as early as September.

Club386’s report didn’t specify which CPUs were slated for the initial release. However, judging by the pattern observed with the Ryzen 7000X3D launch, it is likely that the 9950X3D and 9900X3D will lead the pack as the first models in the Ryzen 9000X3D lineup. The 9800X3D could follow suit a month or two later.

The release cadence of previous X3D series indicates that the Ryzen 9000X3D release timeframe might be notably expedited. The Ryzen 5000X3D series (Ryzen 7 5800X3D) hit the shelves 17 months after the Ryzen 5000 launch. In comparison, the Ryzen 7000X3D series (Ryzen 9 7950X3D and 7900X3D) debuted merely five months after the Ryzen 7000 series introduction.

Looking ahead, it is essential to consider that AMD is unlikely to make substantial enhancements to its AM5 socket so promptly, particularly with Intel’s upcoming Core Ultra 200 series “Arrow Lake-S” expected to arrive in Q4 2024. A successful launch of Arrow Lake could introduce competition, positioning AMD strategically if the planned X3D upgrade aims to capture the lead in benchmarks upon release.
