It was revealed recently via the official franchise Twitter/X account that the Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy has surpassed the 20 million units sold milestone. This collection of remastered classic platformers initially debuted in 2017 on PlayStation 4, followed by releases on PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch the subsequent year. The game was crafted by Vicarious Visions, now rebranded as Blizzard Albany post an internal reshuffle within Activision Blizzard.

At its launch on the PS4, the game was reviewed by Kai Powell for Wccftech, garnering an impressive rating of 8.9/10. Powell shared, “What more can be said? The visual appeal, the captivating sound, and the seamless gameplay make Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy a standout remaster that beckons a nostalgic trip down memory lane. It seems like this is only the commencement of new adventures for Crash…”

In 2020, the beloved Crash Bandicoot franchise introduced a fresh installment titled “It’s About Time,” developed by Toys for Bob. While this sequel received positive feedback, it didn’t achieve the sales figures anticipated by Activision Blizzard, resulting in a deviation from a direct sequel. Subsequently, Toys for Bob pivoted to launch the spin-off multiplayer action game, Crash Team Rumble, which unfortunately failed to make a significant impact.

Following these developments, Toys for Bob transitioned to an independent entity, forging a partnership with Microsoft for publishing their inaugural game. This collaboration potentially offers the opportunity to explore the Crash Bandicoot (or Spyro) intellectual property if Microsoft opts for another iteration. If not, the future could witness the birth of a completely original concept from the developer.
