Crash Bandicoot, an esteemed vintage video game mascot, is closely linked with the PS1 era, and played a vital role in establishing developers Naughty Dog in that era. Despite losing its popularity over the years, Crash regained relevance with the beloved Crash Bandicoot N’Sane Trilogy release in 2017, which revamped the original trilogy for contemporary hardware. Prior to the game’s 7th anniversary, the team declared that more than 20 million copies have been sold.

Making the revelation on Twitter, the official Crash Bandicoot account posted: “Whoa! Thanks to our community of Crash players for this unforgettable milestone!” – sharing a brief clip unveiling that over 20 million units have been sold.

The accomplishment is somewhat poignant considering that the game’s developers, ‘Vicarious Visions,’ were assimilated into Blizzard a few years back, transitioning from being primary developers to supporting roles for games like COD Warzone and the Diablo series.

With the Crash and Spyro Remakes each selling 20 million and 10 million copies respectively, there is undoubtedly a demand to witness the return of classic 3D mascot platformers.

One can only hope that a Crash 5 and Spyro 4 are in production (even if Vicarious Visions are not the ones leading the development).
