The next expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 was set to transport players to the lunar surface.

The fact that CD Projekt Red originally had intentions for two expansions for Cyberpunk 2077 has been extensively documented. However, in light of the game’s turbulent launch, the studio made the decision to forgo the second expansion. Details regarding this second expansion were scarce, with minimal references in the game files, making it challenging for dataminers to unearth information. Fortunately, leaked concept art has shed some light on CDPR’s plans – which involved a journey to the moon.

Following Cyberpunk 2077’s lackluster release in late 2020, CD Projekt Red fell victim to a significant cyber intrusion in early 2021, resulting in the exposure of numerous internal files from the company. While some details from this breach have surfaced online, little has been revealed about Cyberpunk 2077’s enigmatic second DLC.

This week, dataminers have shared several screenshots purported to display concept art and works in progress for maps, new locations, such as moon bases, and vehicles like Rovers for traversal. These leaks surfaced on 4Chan, a platform usually associated with secrecy and covert information dissemination, adding an air of intrigue to the situation.

The moon holds significant importance in the Cyberpunk universe. For example, the popular anime series, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, prominently featured two main characters striving to depart Night City for the moon. In Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, another key character embarks on a journey to the lunar surface.
