Reflecting on the happenings of the past week, it was characterized by a sense of tranquility compared to the previous more eventful periods. The flow of submissions matched our processing capacity, signaling a positive trend.
Throughout the week, we released six snapshots (0830, 0901…0905) encompassing the following updates:
- PHP version 8.3.11
- Linux kernel version 6.10.7
- Freerdp version 3.8.0
- Ruby version 3.3.5
- Libvirt version 10.7.0
The current backlog appears manageable, with no outstanding items lingering for an extended duration. In terms of ongoing developments, we are actively testing the incorporation of:
- Linux kernel version 6.10.8
- Boost version 1.86, which unfortunately disrupts LibreOffice and cmis; resolution efforts are underway
- Default implementation of go 1.23 as the primary go compiler: encountering issues with ignition functionality. An upstream bug report has been filed, with a potential fix/workaround submitted to the development project
- Introduction of a new package, grub2-x86_64-efi-bls, alongside installation-images fixes; pending tests
- Python Sphinx version 8.0.2
- Python Numpy version 2.1.0
- Transitioning the default Linux Security Module (LSM) to SELinux upon installation, while retaining AppArmor as an alternative choice. This alteration impacts solely fresh installations
- Renaming perl-Bootloader to update-bootloader due to the absence of Perl code usage recently, necessitating adjustments in some openQA tests (https://progress.opensuse.org/issues/165686)
- Upgrading Mesa to a version beyond 24.1.3 results in recurring openQA complications, with the root cause yet to be identified
