A recent update from Saber Interactive shed light on the status of the forthcoming title, Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2. The primary highlight of the announcement was the revelation that the previously planned online trial has been officially called off.

The development of Space Marine 2 is in its final stages. Our current efforts are concentrated on refining the game, ensuring maximum optimization, and addressing any lingering issues before the launch on September 9. This decision comes with the trade-off of forgoing a public online trial as it could divert resources from preparing for the full release. Our foremost objective is to deliver an unparalleled gaming experience at the time of launch.

We understand that this news may come as a disappointment to some. As a token of gratitude to those who expressed interest in participating, players who signed up online before the deadline of June 28, 2024, midnight in Paris will be granted the exclusive Bolt Pistol skin.

The team also provided an overview of the key gameplay modes in Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2, revealing that the main campaign spans approximately 12 hours. This segment can be tackled solo or in co-op, featuring Lieutenant Titus alongside his Battle-Brothers Chairon and Gadriel as they combat hordes of Tyranids and Chaos forces.

Within the cooperative Operations mode, players have the option to engage solo or team up with two companions in a PvE action scenario that offers infinite replayability, pitting them against Tyranid swarms across six diverse maps in defense of the Imperium. Lastly, in the competitive PvP Eternal War mode, participants will engage in 6v6 battles across three classic game modes: Annihilation, Seize Ground, and Capture & Control.

  • Annihilation represents a Team Deathmatch format where two factions vie for supremacy. Each elimination secures a point for the team. The first team to accumulate 50 points emerges victorious.
  • Seize Ground presents a Domination style of play where two teams strive to maintain control of a dynamic zone throughout the match. Occupy the zone to earn points. The winner is the team that reaches the designated point tally.
  • Capture & Control introduces a King of the Hill setup with three distinct zones within the battlefield. Teams clash to dominate these zones and accrue points. The match culminates when a team achieves a specified score first.

Saber also confirmed that the online components of Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 will operate on dedicated servers spanning North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia, and Oceania, ensuring optimal multiplayer interactions. Anticipating the game’s early September debut, enthusiasts in North America can preview a game demo at expos in Denver (July 4-7), Indianapolis (August 1-4), Chicago (August 16-18), and Toronto (August 22-25).
