Adobe has introduced a new AI assistant that aims to revolutionize the way people interact with PDF documents. The software company’s latest announcement comes in response to the ongoing tax season and the standardization of tax documents on PDF by the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) 25 years ago. With the proliferation of PDFs worldwide, Adobe’s new generative AI assistant seeks to streamline document workflows and make document management less time-consuming.
The Acrobat AI Assistant is now available across Acrobat Reader, desktop, and web platforms. Priced at $4.99 per month as an add-on subscription, this tool is designed to extract key information, summarize content, and enhance navigation within lengthy documents. According to Abhigyan Modi, SVP of Adobe Document Cloud, the AI assistant empowers users to shift from reading documents to engaging in conversations with them.
AI Assistant Features and Benefits
Adobe’s GenAI tool not only allows users to interact with their PDFs but also provides intelligent citations to verify the source of generated content. The company guarantees that customer data will not be stored or used to train AI assistants without consent. The AI assistant is currently available in English for users with free Reader or paid Acrobat for individual plans. The early access pricing of $4.99 per month will be valid until June 5, 2024, with plans to introduce additional language support in the future.
Furthermore, the AI Assistant is also available in beta for Reader mobile, hinting at a potential mobile launch in the near future. Adobe’s goal is to make document management more efficient and user-friendly, catering to the evolving needs of individuals and businesses alike.
