Eli Lilly’s CFO Anat Ashkenazi is set to take on the role of Alphabet’s new chief financial officer starting from July 31, as revealed by Google’s parent company on Tuesday. This announcement follows almost a year after Alphabet initially disclosed that current CFO Ruth Porat would transition to a new position as president and chief investment officer.

Ashkenazi boasts a 23-year tenure at Eli Lilly, with her departure now confirmed in a separate statement by the company.

“We are delighted to have secured the services of such a capable CFO, known for her strategic emphasis on long-term investments to drive innovation and expansion,” remarked Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai in a press release.

Having joined Eli Lilly in 2001, Ashkenazi held the position of CFO since 2021. She is slated to remain a part of the pharmaceutical company’s executive committee until her exit.

Previously, she fulfilled the role of CFO for various global business segments within the company, contributing to managing the substantial revenue generated by Eli Lilly’s products for weight loss and diabetes.

Prior to her tenure at Google, Porat enjoyed an extensive career in investment banking at Morgan Stanley, culminating in her role as CFO, prior to joining Google in 2015.
