Apple’s venture into the realm of artificial intelligence, known as Apple Intelligence, was officially unveiled during Apple’s WWDC2024 event in Cupertino, California, on June 10, 2024. This marks a significant leap forward in the tech giant’s innovative offerings.

According to sources from Apple Inc., Apple Intelligence, described as the company’s iteration of generative AI, is compatible with devices powered by the M1 chip. This includes a range of products such as the iPad Air, iPad Pro, and various Mac models. While many existing devices can support this feature, it is important to note that Apple Intelligence will be exclusively available on the forthcoming 2023 versions of the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro, omitting compatibility with the regular iPhone 15.

The introduction of Apple Intelligence could potentially drive a surge in upgrades for iPhones this upcoming season, as Apple aims to revitalize interest and demand for its products following a recent downturn. With reported iPhone revenue of $45.96 billion in the second quarter, there has been a slight decrease of nearly 10% compared to the corresponding period last year, signaling a need for rejuvenation and innovation within Apple’s smartphone lineup.

Anticipated to be launched in beta later this fall, Apple Intelligence promises a host of advanced functionalities. Users can expect capabilities such as intelligent proofreading and rewriting of text in varying tones, personalized emoji creations dubbed “Genmoji,” precise message searches, call summarization and transcription, and the presentation of priority notifications. Additionally, Apple Intelligence will leverage OpenAI’s ChatGPT to enhance Siri’s responses, culminating in a more interactive and engaging user experience.
