Sony acquired Firesprite in 2021, and speculations and leaks concerning this game have been circulating for some time. An internal document previously surfaced, unveiling the project’s code name as “Heartbreak.” However, the accuracy of this information remains uncertain.

Insider Colin Moriarty hinted in a Last Stand Media podcast that the game might be situated on an island, featuring a female lead. Nonetheless, aside from this tidbit, not much else is known about the game and its developmental phase.

Yet, leaks continue to surface, offering significant insights that may shed light on this undisclosed project.

Noteworthy clues about Firesprite’s project can be found on the website of Firesprite’s Game Designer, Emily Stell, who labels the project as a “narrative horror game,” listing PlayStation 5 and PC as the platforms. Furthermore, it is stated that the game is being crafted using Unreal Engine 5. Recent years have seen PlayStation exclusives such as Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us Part 1, and Returnal making their way to PC.

Adding to Emily Stell’s profile, the resume of Firesprite writer Ren Alex-Rose, who was with Firesprite from 2022 until April 2024, indicates involvement in character and plot design “within pre-established IP,” seemingly confirming certain speculations.

There are also discussions suggesting that the game might not introduce a new intellectual property but rather a new installment within an existing IP. This notion was subtly implied by Jason Schreier on Reddit. Currently, the specific horror IP being referenced remains unknown, considering the surge of developments in both horror movies and games alike.

Aside from Stell and Alex-Rose, Environment Artist Andreas Houin, currently part of the Firesprite team, has a Pinterest profile. His boards on Pinterest are dedicated to Cosmic Horror, Architecture, and Sci-Fi.
