After its revelation at CES 2024, Lexar has officially introduced the NM1090 PCIe 5.0 solid-state drive. Coming in three variations with storage capacities of up to 4TB, this next-generation SSD features sequential read speeds exceeding 11.5GB/s and sequential write speeds surpassing 9GB/s.

With a 4GB embedded SLC dynamic cache and compatibility with Microsoft DirectStorage, the NM1090 SSDs can achieve sequential read speeds of 12GB/s (for the 4TB and 2TB models) and sequential write speeds of 11GB/s (also for the 4TB and 2TB models). Utilizing 232-layer 3D TLC NAND flash memory chips enhances their performance, enabling them to deliver random read and write speeds of up to 1400K IOPs.

To manage the heat produced by the drive under heavy workloads, Lexar has integrated a thermal control solution comprising a heatsink equipped with a fan that showcases an RGB halo and thermally conductive silicone pads. According to Lexar, this setup enhances cooling efficiency by as much as 30%. Additionally, these SSDs boast an MTBF of 1.5 million hours and a rated endurance of 700 TBW per terabyte of storage.

The NM0190 NVMe Gen5 SSD will come in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB capacities, all supported by a 5-year warranty. Pricing information for the NM1090 range in China has been disclosed by Wccftech, with the 1TB model priced at 1,599 yuan (around £178), and the 2TB version tagged at 2,699 yuan (£300). The pricing for the 4TB model remains undisclosed at present.
