The producer of the upcoming game Final Fantasy XVI urges PC players to exercise restraint when using mods.

When Final Fantasy XVI makes its debut on PC today, following its initial release on PlayStation 5 about fifteen months ago, it is expected that players will embrace the opportunity to introduce various mods, which is typically a positive development. Nevertheless, there is a small segment of mods that could be considered distasteful, especially by the creators of the game.

In an interview with PC Gamer, Naoki Yoshida, the Producer of Final Fantasy XVI, has appealed to users to refrain from creating or installing mods that may be offensive or inappropriate.

To prevent any misinterpretation of our intentions, I will refrain from providing specific examples. However, it is crucial to emphasize that we discourage the creation or use of any mods that contain offensive or inappropriate content.

While it may not receive universal acceptance from all users, Yoshida-san’s plea could potentially assist in curtailing the proliferation of offensive mods within the community.

Reflecting on the most recent Final Fantasy titles that have been released on PC, Final Fantasy VII Remake saw a flourishing modding community, with a total of 1,416 mods available on Nexus that garnered a collective download count of 7.6 million. In comparison, Final Fantasy XV featured a more modest 237 mods with less than 500K downloads. Given the relatively lower sales figures of Final Fantasy XVI compared to XV, it is likely that the modding landscape for the latest installment will be less dynamic.

For those interested, a PC demo of the game is accessible, providing users with a preview of the gameplay along with the opportunity to assess its performance on their system. In cases where a PC may not meet the necessary specifications for an optimal experience in Final Fantasy XVI, NVIDIA’s GeForce NOW platform offers the option to stream the game from the cloud, provided a stable internet connection is available.

Players utilizing NVIDIA hardware, including GeForce NOW subscribers, can leverage advanced technologies such as DLSS 3, DLAA, and Reflex for an enhanced gaming experience.
