Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake has faced challenges throughout its development journey. Unveiled in 2020, the project initially took shape at Ubisoft Mumbai/Pune. However, following a lackluster debut, the reins were handed over to Ubisoft’s Montreal studio, with support from the publisher’s Toronto division. The game was given a fresh introduction during Ubisoft’s Forward Showcase, setting the release year to 2026.

To commemorate the 35th anniversary of Prince of Persia, Ubisoft dedicated a segment in its showcase to the beloved franchise.

In addition to updates on Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and The Rogue Prince of Persia, a brief glimpse of the reimagined Sands of Time Remake was shared.

While the teaser revealed little in terms of new information, the confirmed release year is 2026.

Given the challenges faced during development, the project underwent a significant overhaul and transition to a new team, justifying the extended timeline. With a target release of 2026, it is evident that the game is still in its early stages.
