Hold onto your microphones, X users! The platform is finally rolling out free audio and video calls for everyone, not just paying subscribers. This long-awaited feature was previously limited to Premium users, but the good news is slowly spreading.

Here’s the lowdown:

• Free calls for all: You can now ditch the X Premium subscription to make and receive calls within the app. However, there’s a catch…
• You must know each other (sort of): Both parties need to have exchanged messages through X’s Direct Messaging feature before initiating a call.
• Gradual rollout: Not everyone has access yet. If you haven’t received the update, don’t worry, it’s on its way!
• Control who can call you: Breathe easy, you can choose who can reach you through calls, from everyone to just your followers.

This move brings X closer to Elon Musk’s vision of an “everything” app, but it’s not quite there yet. While making calls is free, other features like longer video uploads and ad-free browsing remain locked behind the Premium paywall.
