Kit Harrington has confirmed that a Game of Thrones spinoff series is not being considered by HBO. This comes as disappointing news for Jon Snow fans as the potential spinoff series featuring the beloved character is now “off the table,” as revealed in a recent interview with ScreenRant. The show was supposed to pick up after the events of Game of Thrones, following Snow as he embarks on a new journey in the Haunted Forest. While there were speculations of other familiar faces like Arya Stark and Sansa Stark making appearances, it seems like those plans have been scrapped.

Why the Jon Snow show is a no-go for HBO

In an interview with Screen Rant, Kit Harrington shed light on why the Jon Snow spinoff series isn’t happening. He explained that the project was halted because they couldn’t find the right story that excited everyone involved enough to move forward with it. Harrington mentioned, “we decided to lay down tools with it for the time being. There may be a time in the future where we return to it, but at the moment, no. It’s firmly on the shelf.” While there is hope for a potential resurrection of the project in the future, it’s currently not in active development.

Despite the cancellation of the Jon Snow spinoff, there are still numerous Game of Thrones-related projects in the works. One of the projects that is well into development is “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” set to debut in 2025. George RR Martin has also hinted at potential animated projects set in the world of A Song of Ice and Fire. Considering the high costs associated with producing epic live-action series like Game of Thrones, exploring animation might open up new possibilities for expanding the Thrones universe.
