Microsoft claims that the Xbox Series S is not responsible for the delayed release of Black Myth Wukong.

Microsoft has once again refuted claims suggesting that technical issues are causing the delay in the release of Black Myth Wukong on Xbox. Recent revelations indicate the existence of an undisclosed exclusivity agreement for the game with PlayStation, and Microsoft’s latest statement addresses this speculation.

Last week, sources implied that an exclusivity pact had been established between Game Science, the developer of the game, and Sony. This week, Eurogamer has supported this assertion through its own insider information, asserting that exclusivity agreements can vary widely and may not always involve promotional activities.

Microsoft’s recent statement hints at the existence of such a deal, stating:

“As previously mentioned, we are eagerly anticipating the release of Black Myth Wukong on the Xbox Series X|S and are collaborating with Game Science to bring the title to our platforms. While we refrain from commenting on the agreements between our partners and other platform providers, we can confirm that the delay is unrelated to any constraints specific to the Xbox platforms which have been brought to our attention.”

It appears that Sony orchestrated this arrangement clandestinely with the intent to undermine the Xbox brand among consumers, given the circulating rumors concerning the capabilities of the Xbox Series S as a next-gen console. This tactic has proven effective, as it has led many to speculate that the absence of Black Myth Wukong on Xbox is a consequence of the purported limitations of the less powerful Series S console.
