The Xbox president has reiterated their dedication to backwards compatibility by forming a new team focused on preserving games.

Microsoft’s Xbox president, Sarah Bond, has reaffirmed the company’s unwavering dedication to maintaining backwards compatibility with previous-generation Xbox games. In a recent email communication obtained by Windows Central, Bond announced the formation of a new team specifically focused on game preservation, highlighting the significance of this initiative not only to Xbox but to the gaming industry as a whole.

Bond stated, “We are building on our strong history of delivering backwards compatibility to our players, and we remain committed to bringing forward the amazing library of Xbox games for future generations of players to enjoy.”

Additionally, Bond reiterated the company’s intent to achieve a significant technological advancement with the upcoming Xbox hardware generation. This commitment was initially expressed in a podcast aired in February and has now been underscored in the recent email exchange. “We are moving full speed ahead on our next-generation hardware, focused on delivering the biggest technological leap ever in a generation,” Bond emphasized.

Impressive commitment to gaming preservation

Microsoft’s ongoing dedication to backwards compatibility is evident with the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, where players can access the entire Xbox One library along with a substantial selection of Xbox 360 and original Xbox games. Notably, physical copies of legacy titles can be played on the Xbox Series X, enhancing the gaming experience for users.

Furthermore, certain games have received enhanced resolution and performance patches on the Xbox Series consoles, elevating gameplay quality. For example, Sonic Unleashed can be played at a fluid 60fps, a feature exclusive to the Xbox Series consoles. Titles like Dark Souls 3, Fallout New Vegas, and the Dragon Age trilogy have also benefited from performance enhancements, providing players with improved visuals and smoother gameplay.
